FedEx Ottawa

Sort warehouse and vehicle maintenance area

Federal Express Canada, which was set up in 1987, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Federal Express Corporation, headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee. Altogether, the parent firm employs 80,000 around the world, including 3,000 in Canada, and serves more than 175 countries. FedEx operates its own transportation network in Canada, including three Boeing 727 aircraft.

In November 2000, FedEx inaugurated its expanded facility at Ottawa International Airport. The sort warehouse and vehicle maintenance area were designed by Grenier + Richards Architecture and built by R. E. Hein Construction of Kanata, Ontario. The existing courier operation had to grow in order to keep pace with the volume of packages shipped through the Ottawa area.
